Commanders Coach Takes Blame for Leaving Jayden Daniels in Contest Before Significant Harm

The Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has stated he bears some the blame for a serious injury to the team’s quarterback, Daniels.

Details of the Injury and Situation

Daniels, who had among the best rookie campaigns of all time the previous year, sustained a dislocated left elbow in Sunday’s defeat to the Seattle Seahawks. Although the quarterback throws with his dominant arm, the injury has left his season in doubt. The injury was significant enough that the TV coverage avoided showing repeats and multiple athletes looked away as Daniels was treated by medical staff.

Criticism and Leader’s Response

Quinn faced scrutiny as many felt Daniels ought not to have been on the playing surface in the first place. The injury happened in the fourth quarter with the Commanders behind 38-7, making a recovery improbable. It is common in such situations for clubs to insert their reserve QB to prevent harm to their starter.

“I get that. I’ve been thinking about it constantly, too, and, man, I erred,” Quinn remarked of his choice to leave Daniels in the match. “This is 100% on me.”

Aftermath and Team Outlook

Marcus Mariota will be the Commanders’ primary QB from now on, but he will guide a roster in disarray. Following reaching the NFC championship game the prior year behind Daniels’s brilliance, the team have faced difficulties this season. They also lost defensive back Lattimore (torn ACL) and pass-catcher Luke McCaffrey (broken collarbone) on Sunday, and have a host of other starters on the injury list. The Washington squad are 3-6 on the season, and it would take a huge reversal for the team to reach the postseason.
